Teaching Applications Using Virtual Reality
Where Are They Useful? Where to Start?
🎯 Learning Objective
🎯 Learning Objective
What do you want your students to learn? Is VR the most effective tool to teach it? For example, does it allow students to train more safely or more frequently?
🛠️ Developing the Scene and Storyline
🛠️ Developing the Scene and Storyline
If the answer is yes, then the next step is to develop the scene and a storyline. What would your student see when entering the VR app? What would they do? What kinds of data will you need for creating the scene and the task?

🌍 Sharing Our Experiences
We explored these questions and shared our experiences from the WATERLINE project this week in a workshop at the EAIE conference in Toulouse! There were lively discussions at the tables as participants shared and developed their ideas. These included VR apps allowing students to do interactive engineering laboratory exercises, train doctor-patient contact, or experience indigenous cultural events, just to mention a few.

Developing VR solutions always requires a lot of resources. This is why their use is especially meaningful in international study programmes, where the same solution can serve students from more than one university!
